HVTDC OFFERS SALES GROWTH INITIATIVES
Services Run From Training & Assessment
to Mergers & Acquisitions

HVTDC has upgraded and enhanced the sales growth initiatives and business development services they can provide to companies throughout the Hudson Valley region. The not-for-profit business and technology resource center (www.hvtdc.org) works directly with small to mid-sized manufacturers, technology-based companies, inventors, entrepreneurs and other businesses to help them adopt new technologies and business practices to grow their business. “There are 10 new services we can now offer to companies to help them develop new business and generate new sales,” explains HVTDC Sales Director Ralph Brown. “By outsourcing their sales and business development efforts to our team of professional sales representatives, we can work to generate new business opportunities for them while they concentrate on what they do best, their business specialty.” Over 100 companies throughout Dutchess, Rockland, Putnam, Ulster, Orange, Sullivan and Westchester Counties are benefiting from all the services offered by the HVTDC.

The 10 newly-enhanced growth-directed services that HVTDC offers are development of sales and marketing plans; creation and/or organization of sales teams including creation of job descriptions, organizational charts, outlines of individual duties and responsibilities with chain-of-command and accountabilities; generation of new business leads and appointment settings; creation or building of an inside sales team and/or sales department; inside sales administration training including instruction in measuring sales and sales department effectiveness; customer service, telephone etiquette and protocols training; creation of independent outside sales representation; recruitment of outside sales representatives or agencies; outside field sales training; a third-party assessment of the effectiveness of both inside and outside sales efforts.

“We recognize that many business owners do not have the time or the staff to concentrate on developing new business leads and sales on a consistent, attentive basis, so our professional sales team fills that void,” explains Brown. “By outsourcing the creation of new business opportunities, generation of sales opportunities, training of sales representatives, and evaluating the effectiveness of sales efforts to HVTDC’s sales team, companies can devote their valuable time to their specific expertise.” Thomas Phillips, executive director of the Hudson Valley Technology Development Center, explains that HVTDC’s sales team understands that some companies are unable to create, and adhere to, a consistent sales-oriented program to seek out new business opportunities. “Since our sales team does that on a daily basis, we are now offering those services to companies throughout the region. ”

Growing a company through a merger or acquisition is an advanced service that HVTDC is offering as well. “Merging with or buying another company is a sure fire way for a company to grow and improve their financial position while acquiring a noted edge over competitors in their market,” states Brown. “Since HVTDC is not a broker, there is no high transaction fee that is usually about 6 to 10% of a selling price. Many small to mid-sized companies don’t have the time or the knowledge to conduct a proper search of merger/acquisition opportunities plus obtain an in-depth analysis of compatible businesses and/or products.”
